Just a quick update as to what happened at the doctor's appointment. Teague is only in the 6th percentile for weight. (He weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces.) They are very concerned with his weight gain, and the length of time during feedings. The consensus was that he might be tongue-tied, so the referred him to a pediatric ENT. We have that appointment Monday morning, so maybe we will find out something more.
Teague's original nurse in the hospital thought that his tongue needed clipped, but nothing was ever said about it again. I guess she was right.
We were also referred to speech at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. I'm a little perplexed by this referral, but we will be making an appointment with them after the ENT visit.
All of this will also require a visit back to the lactation consultants at Southern Regional to learn a new way to latch on and feed more effectively after Teague's tongue gets clipped, if needed.
So until then, we are feeding with a syringe or spoon, 3-4 ounces every hour. We were also given a formula that is mainly used to get premie's to gain weight to supplement with for awhile.

Oh Jamie! Hang in there! At least come Monday you will have SOME kind of answer. Ciaran's newborn hours-upon-hours of screaming were also due to hunger (my milk didn't come in for a week but we didn't know), and he lost too much weight in the beginning. Hopefully Teague's tied tongue is the answer. Then you can DO something about it! Kris had to have his clipped too. Must be a Shaffer trait! We will be praying and waiting to hear how the appointment goes. Can't wait to see you soon!
