After our tour of Illinois, we came home only long enough to drop the dogs off and head out again. This time to visit David's brother and sister-in-law. They just recently moved to the Charleston, SC area. He took a job at Charleston Southern. We decided that since this was the closest we have ever lived to each other, and there was a new (okay, he was already almost 7 months) nephew that we hadn't met yet, we would go visit.
It was so nice getting to see the three cousins together playing.

Vacation affirmed that Teague loves anything that has to do with the water.
He even liked the waves. He thought it was so much fun to go up and down with the waves. We had dunked Teague a couple of times at a family friend's pool, but I was a little hesitant to do it again in the ocean, but it didn't phase Teague at all. He just wanted to do it again, and again....
My two loves!

And a picture of me, I promise it won't happen too often.
Once arriving home, we realized that Teague's diaper rash wasn't from spending almost three weeks in disposable diapers. It was a dreaded staph infection. Goodness! We are just now, almost a month later, getting over this. We went to urgent care, because of course it was a Saturday, they agreed with my thoughts on staph/impetigo, gave us some medicine to treat it and sent us on our way. Well, it cleared up, and then came back with a vengeance. So back to the doctor we went. We got more medicine, and were told that if we had to come back again for treatment, we would be sent to Children's Hospital in Atlanta. Needless to say we went back. However, we were not sent to Children's. Thank God! It was a vicious cycle, the antibiotic used to treat the staph caused (TMI alert) diarrhea, which caused a yeast infection, which caused the staph to come back! I am hopeful that we have broken the cycle. Teague's diarrhea is gone and so is the rash. We are just crossing our fingers that it won't come back.
I am getting back into the swing of sewing. I had let my sewing area get so cluttered that I couldn't stand to spend time in there. On Friday evening, I cleaned out most of it(It is always in need of organizing.) which inspired me to make my newest obsession...a headband!
Stay tuned tomorrow for my very first tutorial on how to make your very own! (By the way, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to take a picture of the top of head by yourself.)
It has been the most wonderful month, and the fastest! Teague will be having a birthday in just a few short weeks, and I can't even imagine having a one year old. Where did this year go? I had SO many goals and dreams for this year, unfortunately none of them were accomplished.
So before Teague's second birthday I WILL accomplish at least some of these goals:
1. To actually start running AND complete a race. Preferably two.
2. To become healthy. I need to quit focusing on losing weight.
3. To ALWAYS cherish the time I have with Teague.
4. To show my husband how much I respect him and value everything he does for Teague and myself.
5. To fervently follow God. (This one should be number one.)
If you see me throughout the next year, please ask me about these. Maybe making new goals in July instead of New Year's will work out better for me! :)
I have had the best of intentions on this blog and keeping it up to date. However, it seems like I hardly have a moment alone. Yet at the same time, I'm alone a lot. Teague is a constant job (which is the way it should be) add to that two needy dogs and a husband who is gone 4 days a week every week for work (Although, I'm so grateful that he is willing to work so hard for us!) I'm either so busy taking care of life by myself and being exhausted or so busy enjoying the time that David, Teague, and myself have together that I just don't update as often as I need to.
Teague is 9 months...oh my. He is almost crawling, but not quite, he would much rather walk, but can't quite figure that out yet. We have been enjoying the weather and all of the activities with our Life Group and church. We have had a Saturday at the lake, Easter Sunday, a baby shower, and next week is Mother's Day which is Teague's dedication.
I will be better at updating more often. I promise, until then enjoy some pictures.

Teague turned six months old on January 31st. (Oh my goodness, where has the time gone?) With that "birthday" came a doctor's appointment, complete with shots. Teague always does a great job with the shots, they don't seem to even bother him by the time we get out to the car. Along with the shots, was the obligatory height, weight, and head circumference check.
Height: 28 inches and 91st percentile. (He's tall)
Weight: (I'm always so nervous here after the first two months. 16 pounds 12 ounces and 35th percentile.
Head: I'm pretty sure it was 43 cm, but I could be wrong, and somewhere in the 40's in percentile. David was with us, so I sat across the room and couldn't read the computer monitor very well.
We saw Mrs. Patty, the greatest CPNP there is. She is a little concerned about his head being flat. We are watching it for the next month or so and then will discuss a helmet. Teague's flat head isn't from too much time on his back, considering he is never on his back. He sleeps on his stomach, doesn't lay on his back on the floor, is always in a walker, bumbo, or sling. The only time his head is flat against something is in the carseat. I can't decide if we really even want to go the helmet route, but I guess we have time to decide. With Teague being so tall, we are having to get a new carseat much sooner than we had expected. We were hoping to get 15 months or so out of our infant seat, since we bought the one that goes to 35 pounds. We are going to be just fine on weight, but we are nearing the end on height. Only 3-4 more inches of growth! I ordered his new carseat today from Amazon, they were having a great sale on Britax.
Photo from Britaxusa.comWe chose the Roundabout 55, since we obviously aren't concerned about the weight limit. (My nephew who is in 2nd grade just hit 60 pounds.) This car seat goes up to 46 inches, which seems to be like it would last for several years. We only ordered one this time so we could see how it fits in both of our cars, but will eventually order a second, so we don't have to constantly switch the seat between the cars.
Teague is also having severe dry, cracked skin on his legs. To the point they are bleeding, which doesn't seem to bother him, it just makes me want to cry when I look at his legs. We are using hydrocortisone cream on them, per Mrs. Patty's advice. I didn't want the cream to get all over Teague's few pairs of pants that fit, so I had to come up with a solution.
That solution was Baby Legs. You know, those baby leg warmers that are trendy. However, I didn't want to wait for them to be shipped to me, and there was no where to buy them around, so I had to come up with a different solution. Or did I? I came across a blog (I don't remember where) that was using cute knee socks for several different projects, and I thought, why couldn't I use knee socks for Teague? Well I did, and they work great. They were so quick and fun to make. The hardest part was finding socks that are fun, but not girly. Target is the clear winner when it comes to fun socks at all! So for $2.00, some leftover elastic, and truly 5 minutes of sewing, we have our own baby leg warmers! What do you think?

Teague seems to be liking them!
I have finally been in the mood to sew again! This is a good thing since the baby that work in progress I last posted about is due in less than a week. I can't believe that it is time for the newest nephew to be here. I got the top of the quilt done this morning while Teague was taking a nap before heading out to our playdate at Chick Fil A. (But that is another story for another day.) Now to quilt it, but first I need to decide on a backing. I have been going back and forth over color and material choice. I'm sure David wishes I would just decide and quit talking about it. What do you think...minkee, flannel, or cotton?
I have also been busy sewing to replenish my mom's stash of baby items. She sells most of what she sews (it's how she pays for her hobby!) So I send her a box here and there just so she has some variety, since we sew very different things, with very different fabric choices. I don't sell a whole lot, mainly because I don't have the time to sew quite like she does. That said it is nice when she calls and tells me that she is depositing some money into the account still in town.
These burp cloths are super quick and easy! I can make at least two while Teague is content in the swing. (Which was moved to our bedroom during our Life Group Christmas Party, and I love it up here!) And I can make them out of scraps. Which is even better. They are cloth diapers with fabric down the middle.
I will branch out with more and do a little bit more with them, but for now, they are just fine!
I also decided to make some ready made gift sets. Complete with a burp cloth, a reversible bib, and a pacifier clip. A friend at our playdate this morning told me she makes pacifier clips with hook and loop on both ends. This way the pacifier and the clip come off. Now this doesn't seem like much, but I thought what a great idea, to make several pacifier clips that are interchangeable.
On a completely different note, it has been cold and a bit nasty outside this week. Didn't I move to Georgia? It has snowed every winter I have lived here. That being said this was mostly ice, with just a little snow, so it wasn't even pretty to watch coming down. The roads took three days to clear up, no thanks to a plow or salt, and school still hasn't been in session. That's a whole week of off school for this! Crazy, especially when you consider that Monday student's will be at home to for MLK Jr. Day.
Which was in stark contrast to just last week when Teague was outside enjoying the nice weather. Soon enough spring will be here, right?

I cannot wait for warmer weather, and more hours of sunlight.
